Spontaneous Marching Band

On my way to get coffee this morning, there was literally a spontaneous parade that materialized before my eyes, so I whipped out my phone’s 8mm App (with the projector sounds built-in, now) and shot this just for you, Imbecile-aphile.

Human Spirograph

Meet Tony Orrico, the human spirograph artist.  I found him via Booooooom.com.  Watch the video below, at least for half a minute.

Whaddya think? Kind of gimmicky, kind of cool.  I like that he’s exploiting his own body as an art marker or instrument.  Work that is made in a way that’s it’s so interesting to see the artist’s process that it’s deemed performance art, also, I think adds a nice layer.  I like his physical limitations manifesting the minimalistic final product, too. It would be interesting to see how his work would look like when’s 70.

Kung Fu Airlines

Hong Kong Airlines is training all of their flight attendants Kung Fu. Cool. I mean, with all the unruly passengers in the no longer friendly skies, it makes sense. And it’s certainly not the first airline to do something like this.  Israel’s EL AL Airlines has their flight attendants train with their own hand-to-hand fighting regiment known as Krav Maga. Now I just wonder what American-centric fighting technique we will teach our own flight attendants.. I don’t know, how about eating someone into submission!? (Full article via MSNBC)

S C I – F R I : Particle Detectors

I love how old school these Geiger counters are.

I wonder if these things work.

The Internet Has Landed

Kitten, pop-tart, rainbow.. this is the Internet 2011.

You’re in a better mood already, right?

A Scary Thought

If FOX News had existed throughout history” is fucking funny.  And scary to imagine, too.

Flavor Country

I saw this tour bus in Greenpoint.  You’re a far way from home, cowboy.

Viscous, Oozing Green…

I kind of wish that it said, “Slimer” more. From under an overpass on the UES.

Signage Love

Century Rubber Supply Company has some beautiful signage, right across the street from (the very customer-friendly) Dykes Lumber on Jackson Avenue in Long Island City, Queens, New York USA.

The Douche Documentary

BBC now presents (not really) BBC Human Planet: The Douche (via Boing Boing)
