Hipster* Wallpaper

After getting married last week, my wife & I decided to spend a brief honeymoon at the new Wythe Hotel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, even though we live less than a mile away. It was a very nice experience, but what really caught my eye was Dan Funderburgh‘s beautiful wallpaper that was made specifically for this location, using iconic images from North Brooklyn, like the GreekRussian Orthodox Church, the red fire call posts, and graffitied post office boxes.  Check out the detail in these vignettes. Very cool.

Pitter Patter

Dear Readers,

All apologies for not having a fresh new post for a week. It’s been an insane few days. But today is the big day, the day I marry my true love. Just a note to say that I will return with many good posts once i return to the reality of the Brooklyn Imbecile.  In the mean time, please enjoy this very simple song that means so much to me and my bride to be and will be a part of our ceremony this evening, today, July 22, 2012.

Dirt Road Town

From Nassau Avenue, Brooklyn.

Holy Sign

I love big old commercial signs, especially ones that create frames for trees and sky like this one on Bayard Street on the Northside of Brooklyn.

Caged Creepers

The same creepy stock photography models stare out from a fenced over window on McGuinness Blvd in the street level of the residential building, The Oakland.  It’s a nice building for a new condo, but their store fronts never found a business to take a chance at this location. It’s been years.

(Kill Mommy!!)

Happy 4th of July from Wacky Greenpoint

To the All-American Chinese marathoner guy who has the mini-Twin Towers tribute on his Nassau Avenue building and today has a battery-powered speaker playing patriotic music, smiling and flashing peace signs in McGolrick Park,  I say, “God bless America and Happy Extra Wacky Day in Greenpoint, Brooklyn!!  There were two separate, distinct drunk Polish screamers at the exact same moment I saw this dude in action. Go America!!

Cave Drawings

These are actually taken from the sidewalk attached to 5pointz.  I’ve shot the actual building before as well as their colorful hydrants.
