Happy 4th of July from Wacky Greenpoint

To the All-American Chinese marathoner guy who has the mini-Twin Towers tribute on his Nassau Avenue building and today has a battery-powered speaker playing patriotic music, smiling and flashing peace signs in McGolrick Park,  I say, “God bless America and Happy Extra Wacky Day in Greenpoint, Brooklyn!!  There were two separate, distinct drunk Polish screamers at the exact same moment I saw this dude in action. Go America!!

1956 Context

(Via memory lane – not a url)   If I could go back in time, one place on my top 5 would be to go back to 1956 to see and hear Allen Ginsburg read his poem, “America” to a very lucky and entertained crowd.  I fell in love with this poem from an audio cassette my friend Cory loaned me and I believe I kept many years ago.  There’s many versions of this audio on the Internet, but I think this one is the best.  Close your eyes and visualize it.
