Bright Lights

A late Summer Saturday night in McCarren Park.  I was surprised how much the park was being utilized, I had to take some pictures.  I like the artificial light at night combined with my low-fi iPhone camera light meter distortion effect.

Inventor-fest in McCarren Park This Sunday

Red Bull’s Creation event will be here in Greenpoint, Brooklyn this Sunday.  A description from their site:

“Our finalists will begin their journey in the Red Bull Creation laboratory, a New York space we’ve converted into the ultimate hackerspace. After we give them a theme, they’ll have only 72 hours to imagine, design, and build their creation. At the end of this marathon of high stakes innovation, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the mind-bending inventions from 3-7pm on July 10 in McCarren Park, Brooklyn. The winning team will receive cash and tools to support their next project.”

This sounds interesting.  I might check it out.

Gourmet Imbecile: Good Ass Chicken

Fresh, local chicken has finally made an appearence to the Greenpoint / McCarren Park Green Market. I don’t know what took so long! We bought a pound of chicken breast from the farmer’s market’s newest member, “Raghoo Farms“, which sells whole chickens and eggs also.  Below is the chicken just with Lawry’s seasoned salt and some extra virgin olive oil.

Then I broiled the chicken in the stove for about 8 minutes per side at 550 degrees..

I’m posting this because the guy at the Raghoo stand told me I’d be back, like he just sold me the cleanest blow in Brooklyn.  And I’m here to say, the shit is clean. And tasty. It was significantly tastier chicken than the usual antibiotic-free meat that we usually buy at Fairway. Go check them out Saturday mornings in the hipster park.
