Weekend Spread: Beautiful Bricks

This wall on West Street between Greenpoint Avenue & Milton Street is beautiful.

The layers of reds & grays that are deteriorating on these bricks from the weather creates a gorgeous, changing texture.

If you’re into beautiful decay, this is the shizznit.

Green Whopper

This is a huge ass plant. I think that it’s from the Anthurium family, but not totally sure.  You know?

Pre-Irene Flooding

I walked the western edge of Greenpoint, in the evacuation zone, on Saturday evening to got some “Before” images of Irene.  Here at West Street and Huron, there already was flooding coming out through the drains. Not a good sign; if there’s a storm surge, this will surely all be underwater soon.

Cover Up On West Street

The way that this property owner covers up grafitti on his building creates a whole new monster shape.

Why not use a little more imagination while covering up?

Now you’re talking!

Urban Campfire

Did you just return from the hunt and ready to grill your carcass?

Come on down to the strange and filthy land of Northern Greenpoint. I found this sand-filled, asphalt-made fire pit on Eagle Street near West Street, aka No Man’s land.

Almost Real

I think I’m going to start another recurring post called “Almost Real”, where I slightly alter local images that you probably would have to be a local yourself to know what’s changed.  From West Street near Quay Street.
